… talk about the events today, the suspect packages, the 21 arrests, the increased security just before my son’s first ever flight. It’s too close, too hard, too weighted a topic…
So instead I’ll just mention that due to major computer problems today (no I’m not going into that either!) I took a couple of hours out and watched:
Deadwood: Series Two – Episode Seven. This program continues in its waves of brilliance, its great storylines, weaving through the whole series, the wonderful characters (whether you love or loathe them) and the quality acting throughout. I love this series, I really do!
Doctor Who: Series Two – Episode Four. I can’t get my head around why I am still watching this, it’s proving to be the opposite of Deadwood in all things at the moment. Awful storylines, weak acting, irritating characters and scenes where I just sat back and wondered why I am subjecting myself to this (no I have no answer).
I think that was me for now… yes it was.

surely there’d be more enjoyable ways of causing yourself pain? Death by Doctor Who … hmmm sounds like a drink.
August 10th, 2006 at 21:39
i had an excuse for doc who, nothing else on! what’s your excuse if you’ve downloaded it!
tho the last two episodes had their moments, as did the double one with the devil. otherwise, URGH. every time billies mum was in it, i GROANED. so sick of her damn parents being there all the time. every time it was on eath, i groaned! whole of space! why earth all the time
i groaned a lot. thank god david is so pretty to look at
August 10th, 2006 at 21:40
I heard that on the news…Yeah, me too…Thank God I usually drive when I go home.
Scary times. Hope you, Edina and Maddoc are well.
August 10th, 2006 at 21:41
We’re good, thanks for that chuck!
How’s the wee babby?
August 10th, 2006 at 21:42
I’m having real trouble with Mickey to be honest.
I watch it as I write within that sub-genre and want to keep up-to-date…
August 10th, 2006 at 21:43
*covers the drinks cabinet with a big sheet*
Don’t start that again, it’s not Friday night yet!
August 10th, 2006 at 21:45
your drink cabinet’s safe … isn’t here to run amok with me *winks*
But it does sound like a drink … I just need to find out what would be in it *g*
August 10th, 2006 at 21:46
You do if you’re going to hang around with imaginary LJ’ers!
*rolls around giggling like a baby monkey*
August 10th, 2006 at 21:49
I got bored with series two as well. the Cybermen were alright but I wanted them to be steam driven. As an aside one of my friends is a special FX bod on Dr who. Every so often we get exclusive insights into the ‘coolest monsters’ as he puts it.

August 10th, 2006 at 21:50
I’ve got the Cybermen next episode. I’m so *yawn* excited.
August 10th, 2006 at 21:56
I know, lol. but you knew I meant *pokes tongue out at the giggling one*
August 10th, 2006 at 21:57
They look good, there’s just never quite enough of them to be really scary and… oops. Nearly went all spoiler on you there.
Suffice to say, last two episodes you get to see just how really God-damn hard Daleks are. Daleks should be in every Dr Who episode. Even Miss_Dark likes Daleks and she thinks sci-fi is (brace yourself) ‘silly’.

Oh not the [Unknown LJ tag] again!
*almost chokes on a piece of banana*
August 10th, 2006 at 21:58
ok, what the heck am I doing wrong? *gives up attempting lj tags etc until is more awake*
August 10th, 2006 at 23:22
The world keeps getting crazier.
And I’ll repeat my recommendation that you check out Carnivale; I just finished the second season last week and it’s absolutely brilliant. As a warning however, the second season leaves off on a fairly substantial cliffhanger and HBO cancelled a third season (hopefully a temporary situation). It’s certainly worth it though.
August 11th, 2006 at 01:09
ooh, someone else to help me trash the monkey’s lj with when he’s not expecting it. *g* When your arm isn’t broken do you also play pool? (hit and giggle variety only)
August 11th, 2006 at 05:53
The wee ‘un’s kicking heartily, thank you. Quite entertaining of an evening, watching my abdomen go “Alien”!
August 11th, 2006 at 05:55
See, this is why I DON”T watch HBO…They’re just nuts. I prefer Showcase, but may rethink that decision if they reneg on “Masters of Horror”.
August 11th, 2006 at 08:22
Recommendation has been taken and I am, at this moment, waiting for episode one and then I’m in there!
Don’t like the sound of that cliffhanger/cancellation connection though.
August 11th, 2006 at 08:22
Masters of Horror had so many bad episodes though and really didn’t live up to my expectations.
August 11th, 2006 at 10:12
I remember those nights…
*chuckles*
August 11th, 2006 at 10:26
I’m useless as pool, so yes.
RJ
August 11th, 2006 at 12:13
hit and giggle rule number whatever & I stopped at the other day *g* All actual skilled players can, and should, be tripped, jostled or otherwise distracted just as they are taking their shots
August 11th, 2006 at 12:14
No more ripping the cloth though, that’s not funny.
*looks serious*
August 11th, 2006 at 12:23
Rule No. XXXX
Whenever playing against someone of greater skill. You must lean on the table and place your hand over the pocket they are aiming at*.
RJ
*May involve pain. The RJPOOLROOLES cannot be held accountable for broken fingers/bar fights.
August 11th, 2006 at 12:24
Now the broken arm begins to make sense!
August 11th, 2006 at 12:34
The broken arm was a different sport.
When bowling, always throw yourself down the alley to impress your friends and provide entertainment for the FULL TO BURSTING bowling venue.

August 11th, 2006 at 14:31
Well, typically HBO seems to like to run shows until some kind of conclusion. And they’ve said they might make a miniseries to finish off the dangling plot threads. Hopefully.
August 11th, 2006 at 14:32
Plus HBO is responsible for Deadwood and you can’t not watch that!
August 11th, 2006 at 14:38
That must have been embarrassing…
*turns around and tries to hide the sniggers*
August 11th, 2006 at 14:58
DEADWOOD
oh do hurry up and finish. its so good.
August 11th, 2006 at 19:04
I’m trying, I’m trying…
*tries to watch two episodes simultaneously on two screens*
August 11th, 2006 at 19:05
no no dont do that. lol
August 11th, 2006 at 22:10
providing entertainment for the masses, with such flair, is a rare and valuable skill. Obviousy it should be nutured.
August 11th, 2006 at 22:12
*gives wounded, innocent look* I didn’t do it … I’ve been playing hit and giggle since I was 9, and I have never once ripped a cloth.
August 11th, 2006 at 22:15
good rule, but there would have to be an addendum to allow for the continued consumption of alcohol: If at the bar when player lines up shot, it is perfectly acceptable to swing pool cue over top of spectators heads, in order to put end of cue in pocket.
This may result in the ball actually leaving the table. Spectators have been warned.
August 18th, 2006 at 22:10
I didn’t know they had cancelled/temporarily cancelled series 3, but the first 2 series of Carnivale are still well worth watching.
August 24th, 2006 at 20:20
I watched the first one and loved it, am looking forward to the rest now!
