Moving up a tad

The album of the year chart is certainly hotting up now, with the move from 195 albums down to 35, as we enter stage three, which is all the albums which have received grades of 8 or more over the year. Some of these received the grades straight off, whereas others have gained them recently after I decided they warranted further listening.

For those interested (as I know a few are) I have created a PDF of those albums that didn’t make the cut for stage three, the 160 albums or so that ended up with grades between 01-79. Shery Crow did indeed end up winning the wooden spoon with her god awful Detours but there are some other established names that have found themselves quite low down the chart.

List of albums receiving grades of 01-79 in 2008

Now is the exciting period as this is when I’m going through the absolute best of 2008, those albums that have really captured the imagination over the year. So far 33 albums have gotten grades between 80-89 and a mere two have grades between 90 and 99.

I’m pretty sure I know the album of the year (as mentioned in an earlier post) but these things have been known to change.

I’ll keep you informed and look out for that top ten of the year as that will be taking place at a brand new home later this year (31st December to be precise).
