And we’re off!

A quite interesting opening to the whole tournament and a rather enjoyable game played by two of the teams I expect to go out in this stage of the World Cup.

I thought South Africa were very adventurous and really went for the win, which meant that Mexico (who have yet to win an opening match in the tournament) got a bit more play and more chances than I think they will against France or Uruguay, meaning their World Cup is pretty much done.

They both have bags of pace but against the big guns that’s not going to be enough and I expect France and Uruguay to qualify from this group.

Now the whole family have joined in with the predictions for the matches (Audrey rolls dice for hers) and here were the family Deniz’s guesses for match one:

Mark: South Africa 2-0 Mexico
Etina: South Africa 2-2 Mexico (nearest and right result overall)
Maddoc: South Africa 8-0 Mexico (he’s only four…)
Audrey: South Africa 2-4 Mexico (the dice don’t lie…oh wait, yes they do!)

And very soon two of the family will be sitting down for match number two of the tournament, Uruguay vs France, and here’s what we had to say about that:

Mark: Uruguay 0-1 France
Etina: Uruguay 1-2 France
Maddoc: Uruguay 3-4 France (he’ll learn as the tournament goes on)
Audrey: Uruguay 4-0 France (them dice eh?)

btw first one to get both result and score right gets a bag of goodies 🙂
